A COURSE FOR PARENTS

Steady Hearts

When your child is struggling, you need more than advice.

Steady Hearts is an 8 session blended (in person and online) course for parents of children and teenagers navigating anxiety and depression. Grounded in Scripture, informed by neuroscience, and written from lived experience.

is this for you?

You love your child
you just do not know
what to do next

You are not failing
You just need a map.

Anxiety and depression in children and teenagers can leave even the most devoted parents feeling helpless. It is not a reflection of your love or your faith. It is a sign that you need better tools and a safe community to walk this with you.

Steady Hearts was built to give you exactly that. Not a quick fix. Not a list of rules. A real, grounded understanding of what is happening in your child and how you can be a steady presence in the middle of it.

You do not have to figure this out alone.

WHAT IS STEADY HEARTS?

A course that sees
the whole picture

Steady Hearts brings together four foundations that most courses address separately. Because your child is not just a brain, or just a behaviour, or just a spiritual question. They are all of it at once, and so are you.

Presented in a blended format – in person and online, each session builds on the last to give parents a complete picture and a practical path forward.

Biblical Truth

What does God say about suffering, the mind, and the heart? Grounded in Scripture throughout.

Neuroscience

Understanding what is actually happening in your child’s brain, explained clearly and accessibly.

Attachment Theory

How the parent relationship shapes your child’s capacity to heal and feel safe.

Parental Care

Written and presented with the warmth and honesty of someone who has walked this road herself.

WHO PRESENTS IT?

Presented with
honesty and care

Steady Hearts is presented by Petro Stroud, who has a degree in Practical Theology and brings nearly twenty years of full time ministry and counselling experience as a former youth and children’s pastor. The course was developed in collaboration with Dr Hanlie Meyer, a counselling psychologist practising in Pretoria, who provided professional input and guidance during its development.

The course brings together pastoral warmth and clinical insight, because parents need both. It is written from lived experience, tested in real communities, and grounded in the conviction that the gospel speaks into every part of family life.

Freaquintly asked
questions

Steady Hearts is not a fully online course. It is an in person experience followed by Zoom meetings, where parents can sit together, ask real questions, and do the work in community.

Is this therapy?

No — and that’s important to say clearly.

This is not therapy, and it’s not a replacement for it. It’s a course for parents. It won’t diagnose your child or treat them. What it will do is help you understand what’s happening in your child’s brain and body, how your own steadiness shapes their healing, and how to walk this road with both faith and wisdom.

Think of it this way: your child may need professional help — and Session 8 deals honestly with when and how to find it. But you need support too. You need to understand, to breathe, to stop blaming yourself, and to find God in the middle of it.

No. You will never be put on the spot. You share only what you choose, when you choose. Some parents talk a lot. Some say almost nothing for weeks. Both are welcome.
